I love knitting socks. Currently knitting non-matching socks. I want to start a fad. Do you think it will take off?

I decided to make odd socks too. I can only be bothered to make fraternal pairs, not matching pairs, with sock yarn anyway, so I reckon I might as well go the whole hog and have mismatched socks. This also stops Second Sock Syndrome as you never make a Second Sock :)

I’m enjoying this pod cast— but I have to say– although I thought it was funny, I was kind of offened by this one. NOT because of the language, but because I don’t understand the whole attitude. I don’t get the guard, but I also don’t get yours on this one.

It doesn’t bother me if you say F***ing a million times….but- I choose not to. (I’ve go my own little list of words)

My problem- was with the attitude or perception toward someone who doesn’t use it, that they should be “desensitized” by your frequent usage.

I respect your choice in language- but this came across as pretty judgemental towards others, even like you feel you should subject others- or convert them- to your own perceptions on language usage.

If I just “missed it” let me know- I enjoy the pod, and did appreciate the heads-up on a cranked up language episode;) I know I can de-subscribe.. but that’s not my goal. Unless you’re out to convert me!

PS That guard is a jerk. ;)

just some thoughts from a listener.

*—————————————————————————————*

I understand your position.  I am not out to convert anyone.  In most areas, I have a live and let live attitude.  I can put up with a wide range of behaviors from being told to “have a blessed day” and to cussing.  I cannot tolerate intolerance.  He showed intolerance.  He took offence where no offence was meant.  He is suppose to be level headed and protecting the campus.  They allow him to have a gun!  I could have reported him and got him into trouble.  Instead, I aggravate him just a little.  I rarely see him so I have only been able to “wish him the best” a couple of times.  Thank you for taking the time to let me know how you felt.

Carry.

Great podcast Carry! I myself find “desensitizing” people to the F-bomb quite a pleasurable experience. It amazes me how people get so offended when it comes out of a woman’s mouth!
Also, your sock gremlin seems to have a relative at my house. The other day I took my favorite pair of handknit socks out of the dryer and by the time I carried the laundry basket upstairs to put them away I only had one!

Love your podcast. I enjoy your stories so much. I also like how short your pods are. And just as I was catching up on past issues and about to say I loved that you had NO music (I don’t listen to podcasts for the music; I have my own music, thanks!) you introduced a theme song. And it’s cool. I love bluegrass, so I can take it :-)
I love that your are just what you are, and talk that way, without letting the political-correctness freaks influence you. Don’t know if you realize how rare that is. It still amazes me that people can be OFFENDED by the different styles of different people, a bit like the “listener” above. Like it, dislike it, ignore it, whatever, but be OFFENDED by it? Mystifying.
I also like your ever-changing pictures when I click on your podcast in my I-Tunes.
Have a great week, great spring, and thanks for the podcast.

Psst, ‘festival’ has a ‘t’. Being raised by someone who was in some ways a traditional Southerner (you should know how to act like a lady so that when it’s appropriate you can), I was informed that I was not allowed to use any foul language until I was 18. Even now, she frowns upon it but there are times the f-bomb sprinkles my speech like dandelions in the park.
