KnitWit 24: Culture Shock part 3

Filed under: podcast — Autumn Breeze at 11:33 am on Saturday, July 8, 2006

I conclude the story of moving to a small NV town.

Please tell me if you enjoyed the story. I am recording in a room with only the bunnies. They don’t laugh at my jokes.

If you laughed or groaned, let me know.

I just love your stories, Carry. Thank goodness your coach was so caring — and that you happend upon your family in a very short time.
Your comments on July 4th about the right to privacy touched on something that’s very important to me. In the present legal climate the only right the Supreme Court has ever invoked to protect lesbian and gay people is the right to privacy when it overturned Texas’ sodomy law. The right to privacy, as you probably discovered in your research, is not universally accepted by those on the Supreme Court. Can you imagine whom you sleep with being a crime — or, more importantly, anybody’s business? I won’t even start on marriage — another hoax and confusion between church and state. End of rant.
Many thanks for all your work.

Hi Carry,
i loved the Culture Shock series. I’ve listened the first one just after listening to “Are you Popular” by Sage Tyrtle in Quirky Nomads, so I was really into the “popular/non-popular” dialectics of school. Thanks a lot for telling us a story!

Awsome series! I still don’t get why didn’t your parents didn’t leave you a note where they had moved, or wait for you there at the hotel?

Thanks Carry! I’ve been enjoying the Culture Shock story, and was very eager to hear what happened next. You are a wonderful storyteller! More than once you’ve made me laugh out loud on the subway — people must think I’m crazy! I look forward to hearing more of your stories.

I’m a bit of a latecomer to your podcast, so am catching up on back episodes. Your story telling is really great - looking forward to more,

Carry, I love your stories and look forward to downloading and listening to them! I love your Culture Shock story - but was so surprised at your sister’s reaction to you finally finding where they lived. Did they ever explain what happened? Or maybe they just figured you were smart and resourceful and would figure it out (like you did)… or maybe they just didn’t think at all!

Keep up the great work, you’re one of my faves, and I love your intro music!

I really liked this extended 3 part story. Can’t believe how ridiculous some of the people in it were.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to load my mp3 player full of your next episodes so I can listen as I walk around outside

Good thing it was such a small town. *snicker* And oh, ye gods, Carry, listening to the description of you as a born again Christian just made me shake my head going ‘that just ain’t nachral’. I’ve met you; that wasn’t you.
