I answer some questions from Shawn concerning linen and linseed oil.

Please, indulge me. It has been a rough week. I talk about my best boss ever. He is going through a rough time.

I would love to hear from you.

Carry,

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. But so glad in many ways that he is doing better. While I know it’s not your belief, I will keep both him and you in my prayers.

And as for those people that you refer to as “genteel Southern ladies?” They are not ladies. Nor are they genteel. Perhaps they are Southern, I cannot comment on that from here. Unfortunately those people never had parents who taught them how to treat other people with care, compassion and kindness. True genteel ladies in my experience are unfailingly kind and inclusive and caring. They may be tough feminists who never fail to tell you what they think in strong words, who wouldn’t know what to do with a lipstick if you gave it to them with a mirror, but they tell you the truth and do it to help you without personal attack, no matter what their exterior. Or you may be astonished that they left their gloves behind, because otherwise their demeanor is right from the era of hats and gloves. But they do not gossip, snicker behind others’ backs or hold back essential information that would help a team. Only people of poor character behave that way and a genteel lady is nothing if she is not of good character! Don’t let them get you down, not a one of them is worth it.

We should all have such a wonderful boss as your Andy in our careers. Wishing you well,

Troy in NJ

Carry,

I’m sorry people couldn’t be nicer and tell you about Andy. He sounds like a great boss and friend. Wish him well.

Thank you for the comments on this todays blog. It is time consuming to do purl sts on a knitting machine…If I find a solution to the biassing (other than embracing it with love) I’ll drop you a line.

Best wishes to Andy!

Shawn, if it’s a single yarn, maybe you can ply two strands together? Have you blocked the final knitting to see if it relaxes?

Carrie- all my well wishes to Andy. We should all have bosses like him.

How could you just end your podcast like that??? Dog dies; the end. I was waiting for the happy part. I guess saving the man was the happy part, but it seemed so tragic all the same. You left me on the edge.

Oh the story gets worse. The GI was so messed up mentally from that experience they ended up shipping him home. He couldn’t take on another dog.

My boss’s moral of the story was “You’ve got to trust your people even if they are dogs”.
