The GI was so messed up mentally from that experience they ended up shipping him home. He couldn't take on another dog. But so glad in many ways that he is doing better. While I know it's not your belief, I will keep both him and you in my prayers. And as for those people that you refer to as "genteel Southern ladies?" They are not ladies. Nor are they genteel. Perhaps they are Southern, I cannot comment on that from here. Unfortunately those people never had parents who taught them how to treat other people with care, compassion and kindness. True genteel ladies in my experience are unfailingly kind and inclusive and caring. They may be tough feminists who never fail to tell you what they think in strong words, who wouldn't know what to do with a lipstick if you gave it to them with a mirror, but they tell you the truth and do it to help you without personal attack, no matter what their exterior. Or you may be astonished that they left their gloves behind, because otherwise their demeanor is right from the era of hats and gloves. But they do not gossip, snicker behind others' backs or hold back essential information that would help a team. Only people of poor character behave that way and a genteel lady is nothing if she is not of good character! Don't let them get you down, not a one of them is worth it.
