I have been having sinus infection for more than 10 years without realizing it. Most of the time it is mild and the main symptoms would be sinus headaches in the mornings together with puffy eyes. Subsequently, it became worse and I started to have
blocked eustachian tubes, facial pain and thick green mucus discharge.

Thankfully, I found an ENT specialist who treated the condition and advised me to perform nasal irrigation of the sinuses daily with a plastic syringe.

I am glad to say that I don't succumb to flu that often since I have been irrigating my sinuses.
Just like to share this with all of you.

i just wanted to share my dislike for air force dr's. like you, i grew up in san antonio... lackland high school, class of 1994! anyhow, we were actually at brooks & for a long time, there was one dr there that no one wanted to see. her excuse for EVERY ailment that you came in with, from ear infection to wart on your foot, was that it was caused by someone smoking in your home. how helpful is that???? glad your murmur isn't causing you problems.

Carry,
When I moved to FL 3 years ago, a doctor was recommended to me. I filled out a ton of paperwork plus wrote up my health history before going to her office. When I got there, the receptionist asked me what the extra sheet of paper was. I told her it was my medical history. She rolled her eyes. That should have been a clue.

I'd been having some low back issues and told the doctor. She said, "you should exercise more." I just looked at her and asked if she even looked at the paperwork I filled out. I'm an AEROBICS INSTRUCTOR!! When I pointed this out she just shrugged and said that was probably why my cholesterol was good. She did not address my back at all.

Well, to make a long story short, my back is fine. The problem was our "new" mattress. And I found another doctor.

Some doctors do not know how to treat "well" people. Also exercise seems to be the standard recommendation for everything. I think exercise is great but it doesn't cure everything. I'm tired of hearing if you exercise, you won't have hot flashes. That's a crock. I teach over 10 exercise classes a week, and I have hot flashes — a lot!

You're absolutely right, Carry, some doctors are just awful. I'm glad you wrote about this. It's about time we all challenge the spurious self-perpetuating myth of the infallible doctor. I've had some appalling health care in the last five years -- and in a city which claims to have some of the best medical practice in the world! Keep up your honesty! From a devoted fan.
