KnitWit 97: Sanctimonious Bitch

News: Knitting Daily Announces Yarn Spree Giveaway. Here is a chance to win a shopping spree at your local yarn store.

I tell a story about a trip to the grocery store. Grocery shopping should not be so controversial in my opinion but then again that is just my opinion.

What do you think? Who was the biggest hypocrite?

ha, ha! jokes on you, carry. both of my LYS’s already emailed me & had me sign up. sorry!

thanks for sharing this story. i find myself doing the same thing sometimes. one of my issues is breastfeeding. one time i was standing in line at wal-mart behind a woman with a newborn. she had the baby in his infant carrier with a bottle propped up in his mouth. oh! i was mad! so i leaned over to my 1 yr old & asked, a little louder than i should have, ‘do you want some mommy’s milk?’ & i nursed him right in front of her. my best friend smacked me, though, & gave me ‘the look’. too bad my son’s twin wasn’t there…. :-)

Hi Carry! Just popping by to tell you I love your stories. They make me smile every week.

I know ‘the look’. People are usually put off by the way I look. Allways underdressed or overdressed for the occasion or just too… I don’t know, not prepared for the occasion. I don’t mind it anymore, though. Ignore me or embrace my way of being offcentre. From the other side, I have given ‘the look’ to people as well. I truly hate it when I do that, but you can’t just not judge people. You can’t be everyone’s friend.

Well, that ‘look’ could have been a thousand things! It could have been “you parked next to me and now I have to wiggle between the cars with the kids” look, or the “My kid is a brat and I’m annoyed at the world” look, or even, “I’m cranky and get me out of these damn shoes”. Best not to try to guess.

I must confess, I would also give that lady the “look” I can not understand why people smoke with their children in the same “room”. But then again I do not smoke…
