I hit a deer once, driving from Detroit to Chicago, and my daughter, who was 3 at the time, accused me of killing Bambi. We survived the event just fine, but the deer and the car did not.

Carry,

I'm so sorry, you sound so sad this week. Many years ago, I hit a dog who leaped over a hedge directly into my car. It was a really challenging thing that remains with me still, so I know how you feel.

I hope things are going better for you.

You sound so shaken that your story stayed with me all week. Nothing I could say or do would help you process the event, but I want you to know I care. Life is precious. Deer are beautiful. We are born to die, animals and humans, both. The fact is difficult to accept; some people never do. Listening to you made me wish we were friends who lived close to each other, so I could give you a hug or a cup of tea or glass of wine, and listen for as long as you needed to talk.

Thank you for sharing that story. You always give me something to think about.

Best wishes to you and yours.

Hi Carry! I started listening to your podcast a few weeks ago, while (i was supposed to) reding for my exams-and I really enjoy your stories and your knitting episodes. Sounds like you week wasn´t so great, so I hope this week will be better

So sorry about Wayne's mom, and about your deer incident. I just realized that I hadn't left you a comment in a long while, so I just wanted to let you know that I truly appreciate your podcast and I love hearing your stories.

I know you don't celebrate Christmas, but Merry Christmas anyway. I hope that whatever you celebrate this time of year, you enjoy life and make some great memories to tell us all sometime in the future.

What a rough week - I'm feeling with you, Carry! It probably doesn't help much, but you really did the right thing, when you didn't try to avoid hitting the deer. It was an accident and you couldn't do anything about it, without bringing yourself and Wayne into real danger.

I'll also keep Wayne's Mother and her family in my thoughts and hope the surgery goes well.

And I'm really glad, you are finally on Ravelry. I kind of missed you there! :-)

carry,
i'm a couple of weeks behind. sounds like you're having a crappy week. me too. i fell vicitim to the ice storm that hit oklahoma. today is day 9 of no electricity/water/heat at my house. my & my 4 kids are staying with some very good friends for the time being. it's hard to feel the christmas spirit when there's not even electricity to light the christmas tree. (or water to flush the toilet, for that matter.) take care!

Hi Carry,

I wrote to you back when I was listening to all your podcasts starting at the beginning. Well I caught up around Thanksgiving and now I'm almost going through a withdrawal only listening to one puny podcast a week. Maybe you could talk longer, or more often, or maybe I should listen to the older ones again.

I've tried to listen to other podcasters to keep from getting the shakes, and it is helping. But, I think you should have a minimum that you must talk for at least 10 minutes. Please see what you can do about that. :-D

Happy Holidays!

Jodie
P.S. Don't even THINK about taking the week of Christmas off. JT

Strength to Wayne's family and to you as his mom goes through another rough patch. Hope the surgery works.

A few years ago, I killed a dog that ran out from a side street, in the dark right in front of my car. I stopped, called the police, and waited for the police and animal control. I waited while the dog died. It still makes me sad today to think about it and I wish it didn't happen, but it did. No matter how bad you feel, remember two things, time will help heal and it was an accident. Your karma knows it was an accident. Keep your animals safe and keep watching out for other animals.

I hope you are able to find some joy in this holiday season.
