Change A Mind About Mental Illness

Looking around I find that most people who are around me aren’t there.  They seem to have gone elsewhere.  That is one of the great gift of humans to be able to remember, imagine, dream and plan.  But what are you missing by not being in the moment?

First an apology.  Sorry to have been gone for so long.  Between life, fun, and illness, I just haven’t had the motivation I needed to do a show.  You know I love doing the podcast.  Just haven’t felt well enough to get behind the mic.

Today’s topic is Fair Isle or stranded knitting.  I couldn’t find much information on the history of the technique.

Fair Isle is a color technique that uses 2 colors on each row.  The colors are chosen from 3 palettes of color.  The color that is not worked is stranded across the back. If the strand is too long then you will want to catch the yarn. This video, which is just a random video I found, shows the technique.

The garments are made in the round and the knitting is cut for the arm holes and for making a cardigan.This is referred to as steeking.

I use a tubular method of picking up stitches so that the cut stitches are enclosed.

Best way to try this technique of knitting is to start small. I recommend a hat or a baby sweater.

I know this was a bit jumbled. I hope it makes some sense and you feel encouraged to try something new.

I had to let Einstein go today.  I loved him dearly.  It was a hard decision to make.  He was in too much pain.

I will miss him.

As of yesterday, the turtle is alert and active.  He is not using his backlegs.  It is too early to tell if he will make it.  They are continuing with medicine and watching his fractured shell.

I will update when I have more news.

I am at the fair.  Even thing is good.  I am collection stories and hope to be back with you soon.  The days are long and there have been little breaks.  We are stay off the fair grounds which means it is hard for me to sneak away to talk to you.

But you are always in my thoughts.  I am keeping my eyes and ears open for things to share with you.

The weather is looking bad.  It is highly probable that I will not be wearing the BBF and the basket.

I don’t know if I will stay the entire time.
